I watched the Beats wander out of City Lights and into the gutters, and I watched the punks kick the doors off the hinges in ’76. They can try to algorithm the soul out of this city, but they can’t scrub the sweat off these walls.

AFTERNOON AT MABUHAY GARDENS

What happens when a cultural space becomes a working laboratory for the futures we actually want to live in?

Solarpunkification is a three-day gathering where artists, regenerative futurists, systems thinkers, and vibe coders converge. We aren’t just observing the future; we are actively prototyping it through an “interdisciplinary Goldilocks Zone” where art, science, and indigenous wisdom meet.

The Queen Kept the Keys

Francesca didn’t just clean the floors; she held the line. For 35 years, she saw herself as a steward, not an owner. She kept a threshold open—literally and symbolically—for artists, musicians, and misfits. Her passing sparked the plan to protect the Mab’s cultural life instead of watching it disappear into the city’s churn.

The Vision for Mabuhay Gardens

THE VISION

Now we’re carrying that lineage forward by turning the Mab into a platform for culture, regeneration and creativity.

We are reclaiming 443 Broadway as a community-owned ecosystem. Two levels. Infinite possibilities.

BOOK THE LEGEND.

In Tagalog, Mabuhay translates to “welcome” and “long live.” The walls of this building prove it. Since the late 1970s, this space has been the crucible of San Francisco counterculture—a proving ground for punk, drag, comedy, and raw rock and roll. We didn’t just host icons and misfits; we forged them.

That pulse still drives On Broadway + The Mab today. Across two active levels, we aren’t just renting you an empty box and a PA. You’re claiming a piece of a historic stage.

“This is not a blank room. It’s a living stage.”

Whether you’re throwing a DIY show, launching a record, or building something loud—this is where it happens.
